About Van Buren County Criminal History

Van Buren County criminal records are split among the Sheriff, two trial-court levels, Michigan State Police, and the Michigan Department of Corrections. The Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry is a separate system. This privately run site was built to make those lines easier to follow, with direct routes to official portals, office contacts, and request steps. Paw Paw is the county seat and the main records hub, while the 7th District Court also serves the western side of the county from South Haven.

Why We Built This Site

Michigan offers several public access paths, but no single search holds the whole Van Buren County record. The Sheriff maintains jail custody and booking material. The 7th District and 36th Circuit courts keep filed charges, docket events, and dispositions. Michigan State Police, Criminal Justice Information Center maintains the state repository and the public ICHAT product, while MDOC operates OTIS for covered custody and supervision records. This site organizes those official channels, their limits, and the practical steps needed to reach the correct custodian.

What You Will Find Here

  • Official access routes: where Van Buren County court, arrest, jail, and registry records are held
  • Record-check steps: how ICHAT name searches and fingerprint-based personal reviews differ
  • Local contacts: how to reach the Sheriff, the Paw Paw and South Haven court counters, and state record systems
  • Michigan relief information: where set-aside and Clean Slate records are checked and corrected

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site, not part of Van Buren County or the State of Michigan. It has no authority over a court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. Its limits are important:

  • We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
  • We cannot file set-aside applications, FOIA requests, or other paperwork on your behalf
  • We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
  • We cannot guarantee that an office contact, fee, or operating rule has not changed since it was checked

Only the Sheriff, the court clerk, Michigan State Police, or another originating agency can issue or certify the record it maintains.

Search Partners

Search boxes on some pages are supplied by outside providers. Those companies operate their own services, choose their own prices, and control their results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that helps support this resource. The third-party tool is not an official Van Buren County, Michigan State Police, or court search, and its output must be checked against the agency that keeps the original record.
